It's no coincidence that the reason so many piano programs fail just as often as diet programs is because they all lose sight of what's really important to the beginner piano student... making music!
For those of us who first tried to learn how to play the piano the old fashioned way... it would have been so much better to simply sit down in front of a piano and be shown how to play our favorite songs right away...
But unfortunately, what traditional piano lessons did for most of us is cause us to run in the opposite direction, because it often focuses too heavily on a lot of technical theory that (quite frankly) isn’t necessary at the verybeginning of your music training...
Yes there will be a time when you'll need to/have to/want to learn how to read music notation (a system that incorporates the letters A to G on two different staves of music at once)... but until you’ve had a chance to actually enjoy your first “baby steps” on the piano, there’s no need to complicate your life with something that might possibly confuse and discourage you to the point of quitting... (make sense?)

Keep in mind, at that age I could’ve cared LESS about playing classical music... and I had no intention of one day performing at Carnegie Hall either! All I wanted was an “easy” way to understand and learn how to play the piano... that’s it!
Anybody can get their MBA degree in Music Studies later on...
So if you’ve been successful with learning how to play the piano through traditional means, then... (God Bless Ya!) – because so many of us had to rack our brains!
