NEW VIDEO! Get Piano Lesson 8: Beginner LEAD Left Hand

Happy Fourth of July and welcome to Get Piano Lesson 8! Here we will begin to ask our left hand questions its never had to answer before... how to play the DOMINANT role in a two-handed piano piece? As we all know piano music is largely performed with a major emphasis on the notes played with the right hand. But there are times when our left hand needs to step up a little and support the right hand with a more prominent rhythm section... like NOW! So... right handed beginners... prepare to step out of your comfort zone for the next 10 to 20 minutes and lets get to work!! To watch this entire video lesson (for free as always) simply go to: http://www.get-piano-lessons.com/how-to-learn-piano.html

The Secret to Playing the Piano with Both Hands!

Welcome to the BRAND NEW online video for Get Piano Lesson 7! This is where we really begin to have fun on the piano! And yes I know it has been awhile since my last video release on Get Piano Lessons.com. So to make up for the long delay... I have compiled twice the amount of great information in this one video! So lesson 7 is actually a DOUBLE video lesson with a total running time of just under 40 minutes! And we cover a lot of awesome new material! First I spend well over 15 minutes demonstrating the art of two-handed piano playing with three different piano pieces before encouraging you to join me on your piano keyboard at home as we play our first two piano assignments using both hands! We slowly begin practicing two separate lines of notes with either hand and then use a computerized metronome to help guide us along the complex process of combing both hands down on the keyboard simultaneously. You have probably never seen such a complete and comprehensive description of how to start playing the piano with both hands before and you can only see the entire full-length video here at: http://www.get-piano-lessons.com/lesson-piano.html

New Piano Video: Return of the Finger Tongue Twister!

It’s back! Just when you thought these piano exercises were going to be easy. Here comes that same tricky maze of scattered numbers once again. And they must be played on our keyboard with proper speed and accuracy using our left hand! There is no room for sloppiness here. In order for us to graduate to the next phase in our piano education, we must conquer this obstacle first. We have already faced this monster once before during our right hand lessons. And if you are right-handed, you probably had the edge. But now we must use our left hand (and possibly your weaker hand) to slay this dragon. There is no way around it. Prepare to face off against The Finger Tongue Twister once again and prove your left hand piano skills!

NEW Holiday Music in Video Lesson 5

For this holiday edition to my video series I have written some new music. This music is partially comprised of finger patterns we have practiced over the past two lessons and demonstrates how our 5-note finger patterns can be parlayed into beautiful songs in the form of melodies. Also keep in mind that I will be teaching you how to play this song at around my 16th lesson. But in this piano lesson we will begin practicing 15-note finger charts both forward and backwards! If you perform these exercises properly without peeking at your fingers you will get a terrific lesson in hand-eye coordination that will sharpen your sight-reading skills and ultimately help you increase your playing ability on the keyboard.

2 NEW Piano Video Lessons! Sight-Reading Mechanics

As they say with any exercise... No Pain No Gain! And piano exercises are no different. So you will need to step your game up because we will play more notes and play with more speed than ever before! First we will warm up with a few more 15-note finger patterns played both forward and backwards. Next we will tackle a very tricky piano exercise I like to call... The Tongue Twister. This duly named fingering chart has twice the amount of notes and a much faster speed requirement. It is meant to be confusing and is harder to play than it looks. So take it slow and let your accuracy develop naturally. Soon you will surprise even yourself at how fast you have learned the mechanics of sight-reading on the piano.

2 NEW Piano Videos! An Introduction to Sight-Reading

In this 2-part video series, you will learn how to begin playing the piano without looking at your fingers. The ability to sight-read is an essential skill that will strengthen your hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and help you develop a natural playing ability on the piano. So for this lesson, make sure your keyboard and computer are sitting next to each another. With your eyes focused ONLY on your computer screen and your right hand in the Middle C Position, we'll begin sight-reading a group of numbers while playing the corresponding notes on your piano. And to add an extra degree of difficulty, we’re also going to flip these number sequences around and play them in reverse!
